Switch applications while dragging items

I don't know if everyone knows this, but I've recently realized that the drag and drop system in OS X is much more clever than I gave it credit. As an example, you can drag a URL or graphic or highlighted text from your browser, switch applications using the keyboard (Command-Tab with the Dock or a utility like LiteSwitch), and drop the URL on the new program.

Better still, before you drop, you can type other keyboard commands (for instance, to open a new window in a text editor or e-mail client) and then drop.

[robg adds: Amazing. Every day I continue to be amazed by how little I know about OS X and Macs in general, apparently! This neat little trick will save the "window shuffle" I used to do before dragging and dropping something!]
