Force your Mac to shutdown at a certain time System
This is a little long and complicated to be called a "hint", but here's how to make sure a child can't use the Mac past bedtime.

[Editor's note: Jerry has written an amazingly thorough write-up on how he set up his Mac to force an end to "machine usage time" ... I won't even claim to have tried this one, but if you're in the need for such a function, his article looks very complete.]

It took me a while to find something like this ... that would wake up and shut down a Mac on a schedule ... pretty reliable and not too expensive (with a 28 day trial period).

Hope this is helpful

While it does not shut down your Mac, if the goal is to prevent users from staying on the computer past bed time, I would recomend "Mac Minder"

It cant shut the Mac down, but it can block usage of any programs desired, during any times desired. You can set daily usage limits for certain programs, block certain programs during certain times, and set this independantly for each user on the computer.
