Set the default print font for generic documents Apps
I was frustrated becaue I wanted to print out my CS homework without having to open every file and print them one by one. So I would just drag and drop the files from the Finder to the Print Center icon in my dock. What I was printing out was this huge text, 12 pt Monaco, and with 500+ lines of code, you go thru paper really fast. I couldn't find a way to change the default font for printing generic documents. Then I had an idea.

Open up TextEdit.app, and open the Preferences panel. In the Default Fonts section, change the "Plain text font" to a smaller face and/or size. In addition to being used for the display font, this setting controls the output font for drag and drop printing of generic documents in Print Center.

Now I can print out my code listings in a smaller font.

[Editor's note: While this may seem obvious to many of you, I thought it was worth mentioning -- not everyone may see the connection between dragging a generic document to Print Center and Text Edit's default plain text font size. Print Center is really just a go-between, and when you drop the document on Print Center, TextEdit launches and executes a Print command. Therefore, your font settings in TextEdit will control what you get on the printer...]
