Cancel one occurrence of a repeating iCal event Apps
I use iCal every day to schedule meetings at work. Most of my meetings occur once a week at the same time, and iCal is set up to easily schedule weekly meetings. But what happens if a particular meeting is cancelled? There is no accomodation in iCal to cancel just one occurrence of a repeating event.

Here's a workaround: under the File menu, select New Calendar. Name that calendar "Cancellations" and then press Command-I to bring up the Calendar Info window. Choose red or some other color that contrasts with your normal calendar. Then, on your "Cancellations" calendar, schedule a non-repeating event that coincides with the cancelled meeting. You can even set an alarm for the cancellation.

When in the daily or weekly view of your calendar, you will see that the cancellation partially covers the regularly scheduled meeting, and the contrasting color brings it to your attention.

when i seect one occurence of a weekly repeating event in iCal, and press "delete", iCal asks me
"Do you want to delete all occurrences of this event, or only the selected occurrence ?"

isn't that exactly what you need?

My question exactly. Am I missing something here? I do this all the time. I schedule a repeating event for the classes I teach and then selectively delete those that occur on holidays, etc. I don't get this hint.

Hmm ... I must've missed something when testing it, as it did exactly what was described ... I'll check again tonight and, if it's irrelevant, it's gone (unless the author would like to clarify, of course).

This way you can keep a record

Although you can delete a single ocurrance, this method allows you to keep a record of the canceled meeting. I could see situations where this would be handy.

You can also use the status field to mark the event as cancelled and it will display an X in the upper right corner of the event.

Should be delete-able

As far as I know the only repeating event you *can\'t* delete is the first one.
