Set custom iPod views in iTunes Apps
I'm not sure if this was in iTunes2 or not, but i just noticed that iTunes3 will remember the view setting of your iPod.

If you drag the separator (the thing that seperates the column view of the library from the track listings) up and down, you can set it differently from your default library on your computer. Not sure if this is productive at all, but you can do it.

this also works on all playlists and smart playlists. it will even remember what columns you had and what order they were in.
