A fix for FTP server and home dirs not being found System
If your FTP server refuses to log users in to their directories with a message like:
No directory! Logging in with home=/
You need to configure a share point for /Users. Normally this will be created on system installation, but a few instances exist where it may not: e.g. upgrading Jaguar 10.2 to Mac OS X Server 10.2.

To add a share point for /Users, either:
  1. In the Sharing section of Workgroup Manager choose to share /Users, or
  2. Add an entry directly in NetInfo manager under /config/SharePoints for /Users
[Editor's note: I've not seen this problem on the OS X client, so this may be a OS X Server-only issue.]
