Rather simple but I hadn't seen the hint.

If you want to attach a file to send to your chat partner, instead of toggling the attach button, simply drag and drop the file(s) to the text box and hit send!

I used to do this...
before I found the "attach" button. Funny, with Apple, first thing I do is drag and drop.
Problems
I don't seem to be able to send (or receive) attachments (images etc.) with iChat (using either drag-and-drop or the attachments button). I've got a direct connection to the other party (the little "thinking" dots appear when either of us starts to type) in iChat, and file transfer works with AOL Instant Messenger Client - but I'd love to ditch the latter. Has anybody else had this problem?
Problems
I have this problem, too. When I try to send a file, whether via
I love Drag n' Drop!
The other day my friend wanted the contact info for some of our mutual friends, so I dragged the relevant group from Address Book into the iChat window, where it appeared as a .vcf file. He then dragged the resulting link to his Address Book window, and it imported automatically after downloading. Yay!
Be Wary of this !!!!!
I too love Drag & Drop, In fact my desktop is a complete mess with clippings at the moment !
I have found a bug in iChat to do with drag & drop ! Apple refuse to acknowlege it. The bug is, drag a slightly corrupted jpeg file on to a "Dial up" users icon. If indeed this user is using OS X, they will most likely be disconnected from the internet at this point ! It seems that iChat is sending incorrect commands ! The reason Apple refuse to acknowlege this issue is that not all corrupt jpegs do this, the ones I had that did do it were Porn Related pics, So Tech Support didn't want em ! What else is the internet there for :D |
