Restore QuickTime 5 Pro after 10.2 installation Apps
I read this hint on slashdot. If you purchased Quick Time 5 Pro, you might be disappointed when you upgrade to Jaguar. Jaguar installs Quick Time 6 and your Quick Time 5 Pro serial number won't work.

If you really want to restore Quick Time 5, Apple provides a way. Essentially, you download the standalone QuickTime 5 installer, uninstall QuickTime 6, and reinstall QuickTime 5. Then your QT 5 serial number will work. Granted, you will lose out on the benefits of QT6.

But Against Apple's Advice ...

For what it's worth, Apple's page that you link to says that it should be run only on Mac OS X 10.1.3 - 10.1.5. If you ignore that advice, well, people have ignored Apple's advice before and had absolutely no problems. But just be conscious of the fact that you are ignoring something they're saying ...

Easiest solution.
Keep OS9 (Classic)
Keep Classic QuickTime 5 Pro
Upgrade OSX QuickTime to 6
Use your pro version 5 in classic to edit movies.
Play them in QuickTime 6 on OSX
The only thing you miss out on is MPEG 4 encoding. Oh wait, you have to pay extra for that anyway.
