Contextual menu printing with FruitMenu Apps
There have been several hints lately about new desktop or drag and drop printing. I find it more useful to print any document with a right-click (or control-click) of the mouse. Here's how.

I use Unsanity's FruitMenu utility all the time. Aside from letting me gain control of my Apple menu, FruitMenu also lets me select from a list of contextual menu item plug-ins to add. These appear as options in the list of commands displayed when I right-click the icon of a file. Anyway, one of FruitMenu's list of contextual menu plug-ins is called "open with." When this is selected, Fruit Menu asks me to identify the command with a particular application (I suppose I could have several "open withs" in a contextual menu ... open with Preview, Open with Excel, etc.).

So, to get right-click printing, select "open with" as a contextual menu item using FruitMenu's Contextual Menu tab, and when the dialog box pops up, select "Print Center" as the application. Hit the Apply button in the FruitMenu prefs panel, and then the next time you richt-click on a file, you'll see an option to "Open With Print Center." This behaves exactly as if you drug the icon over to the Print Center icon, except it does not require you to drag anything anywhere.

[Editor's note: The Contextual Menus tab in FruitMenu contains a number of useful additions, as you can see. If you use the program, it's worth the time to set up a customized contextual menu list...]
