As most of you know, this site is powered by Geeklog, an open-source content management system (CMS). There are a large number of such packages out there, and trying to decide which one you'd like to use can take some time -- you'd have to download, install, and configure each of them to get a sense of the feature sets they offer.
Over the weekend, I posted a link to opensourceCMS, a unique website that currently hosts 13 different CMS products (including Geeklog), but I felt the site was worth a bit more attention that just a link entry. What makes the site unique is that you can login to any of the 13 systems as the administrator, enabling you to test out the side of the interface that you'll use to update your site's content each day. You can add topics, change themes, post stories, edit settings, etc.
To make sure that the systems are available for everyone to test, the site automatically resets all 13 of them to their default installation settings every hour, so any and all changes you make have, at most, a 60 minute existence.
If you're thinking of using a CMS, opensourceCMS can help you with the basic homework and save you a fair amount of download and installaton time.
