Create complex slide shows with Still Life Apps
I was looking for some software to create some animated slideshows (ala QT) out of a series of still images. I tried everything I could find at VersionTracker and MacUpdate; heck, I even have LiveSlideshow and never could find anything that felt comfortable or offered all the features I wanted.

Then quite by accident I ran across Still Life from Granted Software. This is listed nowhere on the major Mac software pages, but it beats everything I tried. It is "donationware". The features are:
  • Animate pans, zooms, etc., and not just point A to point B per image, but you can do as many as you want Pt A > Pt B > Pt C, etc.
  • Exports QTMovie or DV Stream
  • Supports NTSC and PAL formats
I am very happy I discovered this app and highly recommend it - I just don't know why it's not better publicized! There really is no web page for it. You can get version 1.2.1 off the Granted Software products page; it's a 376K download.

[Editor's note: This is really an amazing little application. Had I known about it a month or two ago, it would have saved me quite a bit of time on an iMovie project I was working on ... and I have another one coming up where I can put it to the real test, but it looks quite good based on a 10 minute usage session this morning.]

Every once in a while you stumble upon a gem like this and it makes you thank your stars to be on the platform that truly contains some of the most talented and generous developers.

My head is literally spinning with uses for this app. It does what it does exceedingly well. Thanks for the tio, and BRAVO to Granted Software, who also have some tools that the Audio crowd might be interested in. If they're as well done as this one is, hoo-boy!

Still Life at VersionTracker I agree that it's a dang cool piece of work, and has been updated at least once since I discovered it. The developer seems very intent on improving it.

Someone in a forum directed me to this cool app.
I wanted to create a slideshow like the screensaver
with pan/zoom and fadeing. I have been contemplating
using photo to movie for months now, but didn't want
to create a seperate DV for each of 100 photos, import
each into imovie, create cross fading between each and
add music.
This app will save me a lot of time!
