Install Dev Tools patch to avoid compile errors System
I don't know if all of you who depend on the Developer Tools for Darwin and/or Fink use know this, but a patch for the October 2002 Developer Tools is available at Apple's ADC site. This patch fixes a bug in the August 2002 Developer Tools Update; it reverts the nibtool to the version supplied in Mac OS X 10.2 Developer Tools (released July 2002).

This just may save you from receiving some of those "unexplainable" error messages. This can be found in the "Downloads" section under "Mac OS X". It's a tiny 66K patch.

It's pretty unlikely that this nibtool bug would be causing any compilation errors, especially on software built via Fink (which wouldn't use nib files at all). nibtool is generally used during development to do localizations, but it's rarely used as part of the build process itself.

I had some minor problems making a "pkg" format for mozilla. I had trouble with the temporary directory created for porting. All I know is that after reverifying and adjusting system permissions and downloading that patch plus the file /usr/share/autoconf/autoconf.m4f line 7294 which should read:

exit (setpgrp (0,0) == -1);])],

and not

exit (setpgrp (1,1) == -1);])],

was correct, I haven't had any more trouble with GNU compiling.

As far as Fink goes, I have had no problems except for the bootstrapping for 10.2, which di not at all work according to their instructions. I mean NOT AT ALL. I had to do all manually bit by bit via mc.
