The Sun One Studio 4, Community Edition installer doesn't work, even when using suggestions from Sun (at least for me it didn't). To get around this problem, I have created a Mac OS X friendly installer package. The installer installs the necessary files and an AppleScript that runs the application. Hopefully Sun will include Mac OS X in their "supported systems" in the future.

netbeans as an alternative
I appreciate the efforts of the person who contributed the tip. I have nudged Forte/Sun ONE into installing on OS X and then I found that NetBeans has a OS X installer. For a little background, Sun purchased NetBeans and it basically forms the foundation for their product, however the open source project still continues. I've used Forte as well as NetBeans and they are functionally identical from what I can tell, so Mac users may want to check out netbeans.
netbeans as an alternative
I've found that Sun ONE is just Netbeans v4. Does anyone know where I could |
