Now I found out there is a very unusual and easy way to handle this: Enter the name of the band, a space, and the name of the album too. This will clear the rest of the records and will just bring up what you are looking for - the band and album...

When I hear music out of my iTunes Library that I want to hear more of, I go to the search box and enter my preferred band. If the band has more than one album, I used to make a playlist just for the moment and then deleted it sometime later.

Hint Options
uh, yeah, no kidding
Thats pretty much the way any search field works --- I mean at google or yahoo to get a bunch of pages about NOFX you search for "NOFX" if you want a page that has NOFX songs from the album named ribbed, you search for "NOFX Ribbed" ---- sorry for the sarcastic tone, but whats the hint in that? IF you want lyrics from that record, you search for "NOFX Ribbed lyrics" --- right?
uh, yeah, no kidding
aspen grove misses tai kahn.
uh, yeah, no kidding
Tai Kahn misses Ross Vegas 000x00x0x0x0x0 :-)
DUH
Yeah, uh, duh... c'mon, how is this a freaking hint? STUPID. :P DUH.
DUH
Man, look, if you start bagging out people about the hints that they post it will stuff up this site. you know all that crap about love not war, well its not really that bad an idea.
finish and stop
Don\'t tear me apart if this is a similarly trivial hint. I\'ve always wanted to be able to finish the song and stop the music. I\'ve never found an mp3 player that does this officially but in programs like iTunes with a search field, enter ~ or some other string that you know isn\'t in any of your songs and it will finish the current song and stop. Useful if you want to be lulled to sleep by NightWish or Man\'oWar.
finish and stop
I don't think it's a stupid hint at all. i would have never thought of what you suggested. what might be simple and self evident to some people arn't to others.
finish and stop
you never thought to put two words in a search field?
Why not Browse?
I'm afraid I don't quite get it... the browse option would seem to provide this functionality quite handily, allowing you to select an artist and then choose an album of theirs to listen to. No need to make a playlist for later disposal, unless you're keen to order the tracks in a particular fashion.
Why not Browse?
Using the search box has the advantage of being usually faster than browse, because it's all keyboarding. It should be mentioned however, that Search happens only on columns displayed, typically Song name, Artist and Album. Add Genre to the mix and you can search (for instance) "jazz davis" to find all the Miles Davis jazz in your collection. Other interesting permutations are possible; however, Search only searches text fields - Song name, Alblum, Artist, Genre, Comment, Composer, Equalizer (yes) and Kind. Playlists based in part on numeric fields (like year) require a Smart Playlist.
just search for album name
If you want to just display one albums worth.. just type in the name of the album in the search field ?
Old as itunes
This feature has been present in itunes since the very beginning, in fact Jobs demo'd it in the keynote where itunes was announced. |
