Another shortcut to view Mail's activity window Apps
Most of you may already know that Mail can display another window (the Activity Viewer) with per-task information about what Mail is doing while sending and receiving your mail. You can also end individual tasks (for example, disconnecting from an IMAP server that you know to be inaccessible). This window can be enabled via Command-0 or by picking Window -> Show Activity Viewer.

A third method of activitating the Viewer window is to option-click on the spinning sunflower progress indicator in the upper right corner of Mail.app's status bar.

Simple click instead of option-click works too

Annoying behaviour

I've been using that since 10.0 (just click, no option required) but the behaviour has changed in 10.2 and it bugs me.
It used to be click it once - activity window appears
click it again - activity window disappears

Now its: click it once - activity window appears
click it again - it goes to the back
click it again - it disappears.

This extra click is annoying me particulary as mail is currently so slow at the moment anyway.

Just click the close box on the Activity Viewer window. :)

Mail is nice and fast on my system.

no option needed

I also have been using it since 10.0 ----

No option key was ever needed, and the spinning logo doesn\'t have to be present.

10.0 - 10.1.5 = Double Click in the area where the recycle arrows would normally appear.

10.2 = single click to show / single click to hide

At least for me and EVERY machine I have ever used thats how it worked.
