Create a multiple-user mailbox in Mail Apps
I found this when mucking around in mail. Here's how to create a mail account that can be checked by multiple users and have the mail downloaded into the same mailbox (so all users can read it).

Create a folder in '/' (the top level of your drive), and set the permissions to read/write for other. Then set up a new account in mail. In the advanced options, set the Account Directory to the folder you created before (do this now as this directory can't be changed after the account is created).

Then do the same process for the same account for the other user(s). Take care to fill the details exactly the same. Enter the same Account Directory and create the account. When you create an account with the same name as another account in the same directory, Mail uses the same account rather than creating another one. You can now use the account and its mailbox as a normal shared mailbox.

Better Location for Shared Mail

I believe the proper place for this would be /Users/Shared/Mail/SharedMail or some such thing. This is what /Users/Shared is for.

I tried exactly what was suggested (in 10.1), and it didn't work at all. I looked at access privilege issues (including privileges for the files inside the .mbox bundle), and a bunch of other things, and gave up. Basically what happened for me was that it seemed only one user could really modify the mailbox (including receive messages into it), despite various privilege settings; eventually, the ability to see any messages at all went away for one user.

I will try this again in 10.2 and report back.

I think the propor place to have shared mail woud be /Users/Shared/Library/Mail or /Library/Mail. that would make sense, use the global library or the shared user library
