FaxSTF may cause 10.2 Print Center crashes System
Since I upgraded to Jaguar, Print Center would always crash when I tried to set up a new printer. Solution: I deinstalled FaxSTF and since then Print Center works properly (the hint for the cause came from the console messages).

[Editor's note: I have no experience with FaxSTF, but thought this might help others who may be troubleshooting a crashing Print Center.]

FaxSTF / Print center crash

I had the same problem. Print Center crashes when trying to read the printer SmithMicro in the Library/Printers folder. To my knowledge this happens when Library/Frameworks/XPrint2ModemCtrAPI.framework is not installed, mostly for incompatible user permissions (after 10.2 upgrade or new installation). If you manage to install it manually it should work fine.

FaxSTF / Print center crash

I've had the same problem ever since installing FAXstf X 10.0.8. I contacted SmithMicro and they couldn't figure out what was wrong. They said they hadn't heard of this problem before. First they told me to call Apple. I told them how the "SmithMicro" folder in "/Library/Printers" seemed to be causing the problem. They then told me how to uninstall everything and then reinstall FAXstf X 10.0.8. I did that but Print Center still crashes if the "SmithMicro" folder is in "/Library/Printers".

The file "XPrint2ModemCtrAPI.framework" doesn't exist anywhere on my hard drive. Where should it come from or where do I get it?

I haven't had the same problem though there is an upgrade for FAXstf (10.0.8) specifically for Jaguar - have you tried this?

10.0.8?

I had 10.0.8 installed with 10.2 and it seemed to be okay. I recently reinstalled and haven't bothere to reinstall FaxSTF.

One warning, the help files in the program crash Help Viewer. If you accidently select help from FaxSTF, you can fix the problem by opening the plist for help viewer and deleting the entry for FaxSTF.

I had the same probleml If you have Default Folder innstalled be sure to upgrade to the latest version (1.6.3); This as a known bug in DF. Upgradeing fixed the problem and be sure to use 10.0.8 of FaxSTFX
