Open toolbar folders behind frontmost window Desktop
If you hold down the Command key and then double-click a folder in your Finder's toolbar, the Finder will open the target folder immediately behind the front one.

Handy!

Command Triple-click...
Authored by: acalado on Sep 05, '02 11:19:17AM

I was curious about the way this works, and I'm not convinced that this was an intended feature. A single command click on the toolbar folder will open the window in front. I think what is happening is the second click is re-selecting the existing window, forcing it to become the frontmost one, just as the new window is being opened, forcing it to be behind the original window.

Normally, command double-clicking any folder in column view would open the folder in a new window. To test my theory, I tried command triple-clicking a folder in column view and lo and behold, the new window opened behind the original just as when command double-clicking a toolbar folder. I think what is happening is the finder is counting the extra click in both cases as a regular command click and so forces the original window to stay frontmost. Neet in any case.
