There's very little coverage of this feature yet that I've found, but in 10.2 if you go to the Sound panel in System Prefs, you can turn on 'Play user interface sound effects'. The puff of smoke makes a sound when you remove something from the dock (or menu bar), and there's a clank when you drop items into the trash. Very tasteful, slight things. I hope there are more that I haven't heard yet.

There is the puff noise, there is a noise that happens on emptying the trash, moving stuff to the trash and also opening/closing *certain* windows in the finder. I can't figure out when it happens that well...anyway, this little "reincarnation" of the sound sets from OS9 isn't even close to as cool yet.

I only get the Dock puff, and the thud when I put things in the trash, nothing else.

Yeah I only get the Poof and the drop in trash sounds too! I saw an earlier version of Jaguar which had the remove trash sound enabled [which sounded very like the windows one!]. Does anyone know what might cause some of em to work and others not to? Coz if I look in my HardDisk/system/library/components/coreaudio.component/contents/resources/systemsounds/ and then in one of the following folders: accessibility; dock; finder; ink[!!] or system I can see lots of sounds which dont seem to be playing on my system!

hi there,
Ink sound
The haven't played it yet (nor do I have a native tablet [only an old ADB tablet that won't work throuhg the iMate]) but I suspect that the Ink sound is either a sound as you drag a stroke out (like a fountain pen over paper scratch) or a squeak sound when you press down to begin a selection, like on the Newton (you CAN still do that, can't you! I hope so.)
