Install Apache2 with PHP via a package installer UNIX
Mac OS X Installer packages for Apache 2 and PHP 4.2.1 (Apache 2 DSO) are now available here. Just download, double-click, and you're ready to go.

Apache 2 is installed into /usr/local/apache2, so as to not interfere with the operating system supplied version of Apache.

[Editor's note: I haven't tried this Apache installer yet, so I can't vouch for what the package may or may not install and whether or not it works, but I thought some of you might be interested in trying it out.]

This is the correct URL:

I've installed it, it's simple and work really well. Although, this version of Apache2 might have some problems. I've been getting these errors:

** malloc[1355]: error for object 0x8e8b00: Incorrect checksum for freed object - object was probab
ly modified after being freed; break at szone_error
*** malloc[1355]: Deallocation of a pointer not malloced: 0x8ef2d0; This could be a double free(), o
r free() called with the middle of an allocated block; Try setting environment variable MallocHelp t
o see tools to help debug

It comes with PreferencePanes to start and stop the server. It also put the binary in /Library/Apache2. Not sure if that's changed since it's initial release.
