Remove build number from Mozilla windows Web Browsers
Haven't seen this tip before. A procedure to remove the build number listed in every Mozilla browser window. Rather than repeat what has already been written and also to give credit where credit is due, I point you to the original tip.

[Editor's note: I tried this, and it does work as advertised (and it's quite nice not seeing the build number in the windowbar title!). However, this hack will have to be reapplied each time you upgrade Mozilla, as it's modifying the actual program files. Does anyone know how you might do this non-destructively? Is it possible?]

and a GUI method too...

Thanks for the great tip, I had gotten tired of looking at the build # in every window and had expected it to go away when v1.0 final was released.

For those who would rather use GUI tools. You can use...
* Finder to "Show package contents" and duplicate en-US.jar
* ZipIt to extract the navigator-title.dtd file from en-US.jar
* BBedit light to delete both instances of {&buildId.label;}
* Zipit to replace the old navigator-title.dtd in the en-US.jar

Different File Name in 1.1

I am using the 1.1a version and the file to edit is called 'navigator.dtd' instead of 'navigator-title.dtd'. Also, using the command-line BBEdit tools makes editing easier, as pico/vi/etc. normally don't display Mac end-of-lines properly.

(On a side note--every time I tried to put '1.1a' in the title, it came up as '1.1*censored*'. Huh?)

Don't complain about censorship -- YOU'RE the one using the filthy language.

Don't be such an a.
