Send screenshots to clipboard Desktop
So I was over at the CocoaDev mailing list archive and and picked up this little tidbit.

Press the control key with the standard screen grab keys (cmd-shft-3 or cmd-shft-4), and the grab goes to the clipboard rather that the desktop. Quite handy if you do a lot of grabs. You also get a different sound -- more of a thwap! rather than a KaChink!

I believe the same option of adding Control to send the screenshot to the clipboard is present in OS 9. Also I seem to recall that in 9, adding Caps Lock to the Command-Shift-4 sequence would grab just the window you clicked on. Wonder if that still holds in X as well...

I tried this, in both iterations, and I get a blank white space!?! What do you think is wrong?

I tried creating a picture clipping with clipEdit, pasting into TextEdit and creating a new image "with the clipboard" in GraphicConverter... All gave me a blank white rectangle. I tried a small area clipping of the actual hint above, and then tried getting the whole window. No luck...

Oh well, anyone have any ideas???

Unfortunately this shortcut works not with the German keyboard layout. Fortunately you may switch to U.S. via keyboard menu and Voila!

Thx alot for this hint!
