Subscribe to a daily UNIX tip email list UNIX
Don't know if you guys know about this mailing list called UNIX Guru - but it is a very nice "Tip a day" sort of list. No BS, ads, etc. I have receivedd it for the past two weeks, and already I have learned a lot I did not know. These are just the sort of tips us readers love. The kind of stuff you grab and throw in your goodie bag for the day you might need it. You can view the tips and sign-up for the newlsetter here:

PS - I am in no way associated with the list, just a happy subscriber.

[Editor's note: This was mentioned in passing in another hint, but I felt it worth mentioning on its own merits.]

Sorry about that - its the URL they give in the mailing list but it looks like someone added a </ br> to the URL and its not working properly.

This should take you directly to todays tip and signup:

If that gives you a problem go to the home page:

Click the main graphic to enter, then click the small TIPS link to get tothe same page as above.

Wrong URL

It's a poorly formed URL. Delete the <br> tag and the trailing space and it will work.

Not sure how that happened, but definitely my bad -- I usually test all URLs before I hit publish, and clearly didn't in this case...

The URL in the article is now fixed.
