Display uptime as a screensaver Apps
jokke, a macosxhints reader, has created a simple screensaver that shows your machine's "uptime" output. You can download ShowOff from jokke's website.

Yes, this is a trivial hint. But having been a Mac user for too long now, I'm still amazed at X's stability, and ShowOff is a nice way to be reminded of that stability each time my machine is idle.

I am going to enjoy putting this on my server which runs for weeks at a time with out restarting. It will be fun to show the MIS department (running all pcs with constant ups and downs) that OS X is the best!

Put some of that idle time to good use:

I'm always a bit reluctant to run distributed Apps of unknown source code on my systems. Anyone remember the in-famous distributed.net security hole?

I have to say that I find the endless fascination of longtime Mac users with an OS that doesn't crash when you look sideways at it just so...adorable.

I wanna tousle all your heads and pinch all your cheeks.
