Temporarily Disable LoginItems

Want to login quickly?

Make sure you have at least 10.1.3. Immediately after logging in hold down the shift key, and your login items will not launch at all during this login session. I am glad that Apple finally added an option for this, as it is particularly useful when diagnosing a problem (when frequent logins/outs are necessary).

This is directly from Apple: Mac OS X: v10.1.1 - v10.1.3

Look at the "LoginWindow" section for 10.1.3:

"As of Mac OS X 10.1.3, if the shift key is held down during the login sequence, LoginItems (applications launched at login) will not be launched (r. 2826839)."
