A service to execute terminal commands System
I've written a service component called ShellService which allows folks to execute UNIX shell commands from a text window in an application like TextEdit or ProjectBuilder.

The component adds an "Execute Text" menu item. When you select some text and choose it, the text is sent to your MacOS X shell to be executed. The shell's output is then put into the text window.

Feedback welcome via the email links on the ShellService page.

The strength of the Web lies in visual cues. Scrubbing the mouse over a story in search of links is much less efficient than a color cue -- please start using alink/vlink/etc in your link tags to make the hyperlinks stand out. This is a really useful site and such a small change would make it a bit more so.

A service to do this this (and much more) could also be easily implemented via Text Wielder -> applescript service creation utility. (search for text wielder on this site)

I can't wait to try this out! No more copying and pasting when following instructions on the web for installation of things like apache, php, mysql.
