Another date and time menubar solution Desktop
There seems to be plenty of room in the menu bar these days, and I'm constantly clicking on the clock to see what day or date it is...until this app came along:

Download PTHClock (which also includes a cool little pop-up calendar).

Once it's been loaded, go to the preferences and make the time and date formats the same, e.g.:

Time Format %a %d/%m/%y, %i:%M %p
Date Format %a %d/%m/%y, %i:%M %p

You now have a clock in the menu bar that shows day, date, and time. If you double click on it, a small calendar pops down.

What preferences? I can't figure out how to do anything but display the calendar by double-clicking the second clock. To quit it I have to kill it from the terminal. Help?

once you have it running, click on the date/time once, notice that the app name PTHClock shows up in the menu bar. click on the app menu, there are the prefs.

I launch the app and a second clock appears. When I click that clock, it turns into a date, and my current window is no longer "in focus" but the app menu remains the same. Oh well....

wClock ( performs the same service, and you only have to single-click to get the calendar. You will have to fiddle with the preferences (~/Library/Preferences/com.wolfware.wClock.plist) here, too, to get it positioned just right on the menu bar, and to get it in the desired format.
