Possible solution to sleep problems on DP Macs System
X Sleep Solution is an app that may well let your dual processor fall asleep if it currently refuses to. It works on my G4/500/DP.

I have 3 hard drives in my dual 500. I pulled the useless zip drive :-)
From what I can tell I can only choose one drive to keep awake.

if you want to keep a drive awake (not that I do), couldn't you just use his approach of copying a frequently changing and small file onto the drive ?.
Can't that be done with cron ?

I'm sure that would work but this app is still early so I thought they might want some suggestions.

I did find by running two copies of the app it works.

I'd think it more than likely that this file, being small and frequently accessed, would reside within OS X's disk cache.

Does X have an hdparm command? If so, that'd let you modify the HDD timeout.
