Faster Finder scrolling with scroll wheel mice Desktop
If you have a scroll wheel mouse and want to scroll faster in the Finder with it, hold the option key as you scroll. This will cause you to scroll by half a page per 'tick' of your wheel. This works with my Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer and I'm assuming it will work with all scroll wheel mice.

[Editor's note: Works fine with the Gateway Trekker Wheel Mouse on my G4/350 ... don't ask!]

What drivers did you use to get the scroll wheel to work?

I have a Contour UniMouse and the company that makes this product still hasn't ported their software to MacOS X (they are working on it, and it should be pretty slick, as the OS 9 version is great).

But in the meantime, I was wondering if some other driver would allow my scroll wheel to work. Is it hardware specific or is it pretty general?

No drivers...

Out of the box, OS X should support two-button mice with scroll wheels ... I've used both the MS Optical and the above-referenced Gateway mouse with no drivers at all.

This is a great simple tip, it works great on my Kensington Optical Mouse-in-a-box Pro!
