PR - WindowShade X 1.0 Press Rel
Unsanity LLC releases WindowShade X

WindowShade X brings the familiar window-collapsing effect from MacOS 9 into MacOS X, and more. Stacked with three different shade styles, it gives you the freedom to manage your workspace environment exactly how you want it.

Download WindowShade X now; for more info, visit Unsanity.com.

[Editor's note: I wasn't ever a windowshade fan in OS 9, but this little utlity's "transparent" WindowShade feature is quite cool - give it a try!]

This has got to be something you can implement through terminal.app, right? or not. maybe not. anyway, if anybody knows how this thing works, I'd be more than interested to hear it.

From the geek perspective, we sneak into every application's address space and redefine some of the vectors to our replacement routines. All the substitution is done in RAM and no frameworks/files on disk are ever affected. Hope that made any sense, and my excuses for the geek talk. ;D

This is a cool hack, however, it would much more useful if it added the windowshade function, rather than replaced the minimize function. I would much prefer to have the window collapse if I double click, and head for the dock if I click on the minimize button.

I really like the transparent windows. I think that they would be really useful if they ignored clicks in the window content and only recognized clicks in the titlebar. That way you could get to things underneath the windows but still see everything.

I wrote them about this but it looks like the author reads this site :-)
