If you have one of the Apple Pro keyboards, the eject key now opens AND closes the CD tray in OS X 10.1. The good news for you non-Apple keyboard users is that the F12 key appears to do the same thing on most every Mac that has a tray-based CD system.

Bad idea
if this isn't an error, as i suspect it is, then i hope it gets fixed, because those of us using the F keys as shortcuts in apps are getting mighty piss€d off with it, especially if you have more than one CD device. i hope someone finds a way of turning this off, i shall be trying and will post if i do.
Bad idea
it's not an error, it's for uses that don't have an Eject key and have new G4's with no eject button to open the drive. I wish they had used F15 though, but I guess because the older USB keyboards didn't have F15...
Open everything...
F12 does not only open the internal CD tray, but it seems to affect all CDs. On my beige G3, it opens both the internal, as well as my USB Iomega CDRW.
yeap, even FireWire burners...
My Que!'s tray opens and closes with F12. Cool!
Re: Open Everything
The Eject key also opens everything... my internal CD-RW and my external one too! |
