Fast scroll text windows Apps
this might not be new to OS X, and/or this might be common knowledge - but it suprised the heck out of me... holding down the OPTION key while scrolling through a text window speeds up the scroll considerably (tested in BBEdit + TextEdit). great for code or getting through logs...

[Editor: I'm not sure when this was added, but it was news to me, too! Thanks for the tip, Anonymous!]

This is a throwback to NeXT

This is one of the many little things that's come across from NeXTStep. Holding option and clicking a scroll arrow is just like clicking in the scroll bar. It jumps by a whole screenfull. Another NeXT scroll bar tip is that option-clicking in the scroll bar will instantly move you to that location in the document, rather than jumping by a screenfull.
