Higher Resolutions System
[Editor's note: See the comments for discussion on alternatives]

I just got a new monitor. How can I run it at higher than 1600x1200?

I know I saw a hack posted somehwere that enabled virtually every possible resolution; I just
can't find it at the moment. I'll dig around a bit this weekend and see if I can't come up with it.

MenuStrip

One possible solution is to try installing MenuStrip v 1.2 from MacPowerUser. I haven't used it myself yet, but one of the listed features is: "Improved resolution switching support, including support for higher resolutions as well as displaying the refresh rate beside each resolution setting" I still think I remember seeing a command-line hack somewhere, but I can't seem to find it.

from http://www.epicware.com/Downloads/Tips.pdf defaults write Preferences NSEnableShowAllDisplayModes YES This is for OS X Server, but maybe it'll work anyway... not in OS X so I can't see if this is even a legal command.
